  • Overview

    The Training and Talent Development department at Ygrene is tasked with developing and delivering training interventions for all manner of important company initiatives.  Before training products can be put into circulation, they must be researched and written.

     

    We are seeking a Training Content Writer with experience to produce written and online materials, centered around the following themes:

    • Explaining new products, processes or workflows
    • Communicating change
    • Promoting regulatory compliance
    • Researching and designing training workshops

     

    The ideal candidate commands excellent communication skills, particularly writing.   More specifically, we seek someone who can:

    • Write with empathy for multiple audiences,
    • Capture complex technical processes and explain them in an intuitive way.
    • Use basic software tools to produce explanatory diagrams or other illustrations,
    • Interview Subject Matter Experts to clarify products, policies, or changes,

    and

    • Remain poised and productive in the face of multiple projects and concurrent deadlines.
    • Aptitude for public presentations preferred but not required.
    • Multimedia software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere) and visual design skills are preferred but not required.

    The position is based out of our Petaluma, CA office.  This is an opportunity to broaden your professional experience and apply your skills to a different set of needs within the company.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Work closely with the Training unit director to serve incoming training requests, by drafting initial training material, responding to edits, and performing final production to high standards, under short timelines. Rapid initial production and a willingness to edit will be key to success.
    • Edit existing instructional documentation or produce new documentation for easier consumption by learners.
    • Required deliverables may include job aids, voice-over scripts, training manuals, needs analyses, quizzes, training reports, slide decks or web pages. Multimedia projects may be assigned according to the candidate’s experience and software skills.
    • Write and/or assist with reports or scripts related to training activities or other business initiatives.
    • Assist and advise other members of the training team in a collaborative and supportive environment. Must be open to receive similar assistance, advice and coaching.
    • Serve as a remote instructor or co-trainer as needed.
    • Serve in a one-on-one/tutorial capacity as needed.
    • Perform administrative duties surrounding training as necessary.
    • This position will be based in Petaluma, CA. Travel to Florida or other states may occasionally be necessary as part of the content writing process or to deliver instruction in-person.

    Qualifications

     

    • Strong knowledge of Ygrene internal systems, workflows, and core PACE product and features.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
    • Financial Product experience: Candidates will be expected to possess or quickly develop expert knowledge in all manner of household financial topics such as mortgages, home equity loans, unsecured finance products, and property taxation principles.
    • Exceptional communication skills; specifically:
      • Deep listening skills for interviewing company subject matter experts.
      • Teaching skills, broadly defined. This could entail explaining processes to peers as a colleague, team lead or supervisor.
      • Superior writing skills as evidenced by cover letter, writing samples, or other relevant experience.
    • Computer proficiency and confidence with technology are required, including:
      • Intermediate and advanced features within MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
      • Document design software such as MS Publisher, Adobe InDesign, or Illustrator is preferred but not required.
      • Some experience with web authoring tools such as Wordpress, Drupal, or Dreamweaver is preferred but not required.
    • Financial Product experience: Candidates will be expected to possess or quickly develop expert knowledge in all manner of household financial topics such as mortgages, home equity loans, unsecured finance products, and property taxation principles.Some experience with web authoring tools such as Wordpress, Drupal, or Dreamweaver is preferred but not required.   

     

    The current role is structured as an internal job rotation for 12 months.  Continued employment beyond the rotation period is not guaranteed.
