We are seeking an experienced Corporate Trainer/Instructional Designer to design, develop, and deliver training interventions for various training needs across the company.  This position will be responsible for the full life cycle of specific training efforts, from initial training analysis all the way to final delivery and ongoing evaluation.  The ideal candidate has exceptional public presentation and classroom facilitation skills, backed by deep knowledge of teaching, adult learning, and the instructional design process.  We seek someone dynamic yet disciplined, who can teach with flair, but only after mastering command of the content.  The role requires a strong writer with the willingness to edit and refine as much as it takes to produce an impeccable product.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Training unit director to serve incoming training requests, by producing training workshops or training plans to high standards, under short timelines. Rapid design, development, and iteration will be key to success. 
  • Required deliverables may include classroom lesson plans, workshop plans, self-paced assignments, micro-learning, in-class activities, handouts, job aids, work unit training plans, needs analyses, evaluation metrics, quizzes or reporting. E-learning projects may be assigned depending on candidate experience.
  • Deliver in-person classroom training weekly to serve either new employee orientation or the continuing education of staff.
  • Deliver remote training via webinars, screencasts, or other distance delivery methods.
  • Instructional Design duties: collaborate with business unit stakeholders and SMEs to listen to and analyze training needs, design training plans, develop training materials, and implement training solutions to service those needs.
  • Serve as a remote instructor or co-trainer as needed
  • Assist in the development of an evaluation infrastructure for training efforts.
  • Edit existing instructional documentation or produce new documentation for easier consumption by learners.
  • Write and/or assist with reports or scripts related to training activities or other business initiatives.
  • Assist, advise, or coach other members of the training team in a collaborative and supportive environment. Must be open to receive similar assistance, advice and coaching.
  • Serve in a one-on-one/tutorial capacity as needed
  • Perform administrative and coordinative duties surrounding training as necessary.
  • Occasional travel will be necessary as part of the instructional design process or to deliver instruction in-person.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in a teaching, training, course design, or curriculum development role. At least one year should include teaching workplace systems, operations, or processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced educational attainment such as Master's Degree or certificate program in instructional design, learning technology, adult learning, or professional training is preferred but not required. 
  • Exceptional communication skills; specifically:
    • Deep listening skills for interviewing company stakeholders and individual learners.
    • Confident, engaging, and responsive public presentation skills
    • Classroom teaching skills, notably leading or facilitating group discussions and extracting learner involvement in a participatory setting
    • Superior writing skills as evidenced by writing samples, publication (broadly defined), or other relevant experience. 
  • Demonstrated command of modern instructional design:
    • Conversant in each element of ADDIE with a proven track record specifically in analysis, design, development and implementation.
    • Track record of rapid iteration, rapid design, and rapid production of training materials.
  • Strong (and supported) point of view with regard to adult learning practice and ability to choose among various theories of instruction
  • Computer proficiency and confidence with technology are required, including:
    • Intermediate and advanced features within MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
    • Classroom technologies such as laptop projectors, conference phones, or electronic whiteboards.
    • Familiarity with the functionality of at least one Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Webinar technologies such as WebEx or Adobe Connect
    • Document design software such as MS Publisher, Adobe InDesign, or Illustrator is preferred but not required. 
    • Some experience with elearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or other emerging tools is preferred but not required.
    • Some experience with web authoring tools such as Wordpress, Drupal, or Dreamweaver is preferred but not required.
  • Financial Product experience: Candidates will be expected to possess or quickly develop expert knowledge in all manner of household financial topics such as mortgages, home equity loans, unsecured finance products, and property taxation principles.
